CONNECTION
A NEW PARADIGM FOR TRAUMA-INFORMED THERAPY
HOW IT ALL STARTED

On an August night in 2018, Lennie Knowlton invited four therapist friends for a backyard brainstorm. Over a cheese platter, the women, who together had served the community for many years, discussed the intense barriers preventing people in their community from receiving the mental health care they deserve.
They shared stories of success and tragedy and agreed that the path to improving mental health includes access to quality trauma-informed services, provided by therapists who are energized and invested in care and are followed by opportunities to take the “work” outside of the therapy through practice and connection with others.
It was clear that the community needed something better. A few weeks later — Project Connection was founded.
Since then, we’ve remained as committed as ever to bring the mental health services that bring the experience, empathy, and commitment to providing services that help the individuals move through shame and trauma in order to create a more connected, wholehearted society.
