Cole utilizes care, patience, and humor to help guide clients in their therapy journey. His approach is grounded in humanistic perspective, trust building, and feminist multicultural psychotherapy; in order to promote wellbeing through the therapeutic relationship. His approach involves trying to see clients as all parts of who they are, who they strive to be, and understand their experiences in the world. Cole is focused on treating and helping clients understand the effects of trauma, explore their goals and values, and then help the client gain the motivations and tools to thrive and meet their goals. He is certified in Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and uses techniques based in Motivational Interviewing, Self-Determination Theory, and Deliberate Practice.

Outside of therapy, Cole works with the University of Utah and DCFS on workforce development efforts to improve the outcomes for the children and families in the foster care system. At the University he also conducts research focused on child welfare, learning psychology, trust, and trauma, as well as sits on the Utah Trafficking in Persons Task Force to combat human trafficking. In his free time, he also enjoys coaching youth football, getting outside whenever possible, and staying busy through sports, drawing, and being around friends/family!
