Emily is a Certified Social Worker and graduated with a master’s and bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Utah. Emily has 10 years working in the social work field including working in adult residential substance abuse treatment, Adult Protective Services, and with Primary Children’s Behavioral Health intake and Stabilization and Mobile Response team. She has experience working in school-based therapy as well as outpatient therapy in a nonprofit setting.
Emily is passionate about working with the LGBTQ population. She works with all ages but has her most recent experience working with children and adolescents.
Emily is trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and is working towards becoming a Certified Grief Counselor. Emily also pulls from Dialectal Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), play therapy, and motivational interviewing. She has been trained in Crisis intervention and Parent Management Training (PMT).
Emily believes that everyone is the expert of their own life and a collaborative approach to healing is most helpful. Emily works with clients to identify what is most important to them and helps them to build a life of meaning despite the struggles they may encounter along the way.
