Tara M. Pennington double majored in Psychology and Human Development and Family Studies at the University of Utah, and went on to get a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Before entering the therapy field, she aided and developed programs for families who had children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Tara prides herself on being a therapist with lived experiences in many of the facets of life we all experience. With over 8 years of experience in the field, she has demonstrated a strong ability to help others navigate the traumas of life that lead to a disrupted way of living and assist in bringing back the joy of life. She prides herself on being a strategic, yet flexible thinker, using innovative approaches in a variety of modalities as she believes there is not one way to “fix” a disrupted system. She is dedicated to helping individuals, partnerships and families achieve their therapeutic goals in a way that fits their version of what that looks like for them.

Throughout her career, she has focused on various aspects of mental health from Autism to cancer. She is a breast cancer survivor and enjoys helping other patients/survivors through the trauma of diagnosis, treatment and life after cancer. From an entrepreneur standpoint, she has started two businesses and helped co-found Project Connection. She holds a senior management position and is a supervisor.

She is trained in EMDR which has been instrumental in helping individuals overcome the spectrum of trauma and other hardships in their lives. She is a facilitator for a non-profit foundation that focuses on helping individuals who have/had breast cancer and runs grief circles.

She is committed to a life of learning about emerging trends and best practices and advocating for mental health. She strives to make a positive impact in her community and beyond.
